All are welcome to help…
All are welcome to the help…
Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Iron Rule: Do for others only what they cannot do for themselves.
Research old and new suggests that the best (safest, most effective & sustainable) approaches to the myriad problems in the Global South hinge on cultural competence (sensitivity & respect) and partnerships that use and share resources. In all aspects of our work we strive to forge strategic partnerships, maintain cultural competence and promote sustainability.
Whether you’re visiting to learn more about the people and the needs in the Lake Titicaca region of Peru and Bolivia, the prospect of supporting our work or joining a mission team, or you’re just curious, you’ll find lots of information here. Of course, if you have questions or feedback, please post a comment here, or email us at jeffandeb@gmail.com.
In October 2010, we made an “orientation” trip to Peru and Bolivia. After months of emails and phone calls, we finally met the couple who launched Mision Fronteras in 2009, United Methodist Volunteers in Mission, Scott Pressman, M.D., and Bev Pressman, MA,Ed., from First United Methodist Church of Boise. We owe them a mountain of thanks.
We arrived in April, got settled in, and are now ready to recieve individual and team volunteers. If you are interested in helping with our work please see the Visit page on this web site.
If you can’t do a mission trip, but would still like to help, we welcome donations, which support all of our work. Please visit the Donate page on this web site, or click this link to go directly to The Advance site – we are project #3021288. The Advance site only tallies donations routed directly through The Advance. Adding in donations that went through our home church we have raised more than 50% of our goal to date. Thank you and keep those gifts coming!
The Northern Illinois Conference of the Methodist Church asked us to create a short video for its annual meeting. It’s a 90-second snapshot of Mision Fronteras. To view the video click here.
All the photos on this site were by us or the Pressmans (to enlarge any photo, simply click on it). The banner shot on the home page was taken on the road heading south from Cuzco to Puno, Peru, in the Rio Vilcanota valley — Jeff snapped it from the bus window!
Thanks again for visiting the Mision Fronteras web site!
Bendiciones y chao,
Jeff and Debbie
